Josh

Hi my name is Josh, and I am proud to be part of the team at Forest 1st Tutoring. I joined Forest 1st because I am passionate about helping young people develop confidence in their abilities and achieve success in a supportive, nurturing environment. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and I enjoy working closely with pupils and families to help make that happen. 

My teaching approach is centred around building positive relationships, creating engaging learning experiences, and tailoring support to each child’s individual needs. Every learner is different, and I take great pride in understanding how each child learns best. Whether a pupil is looking to boost their confidence, close gaps in learning, prepare for assessments, or reach their full academic potential, I aim to make learning enjoyable, accessible, and rewarding.

I am a fully qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE from the University of Chichester. Alongside my teaching qualifications, I hold a degree in Football Coaching and Performance and have additional qualifications in Personal Training, Health and Fitness, and Strength and Conditioning.

Over the past five years, I have worked across both primary and secondary education. My experience includes teaching in mainstream classrooms, leading curriculum areas, and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). One of the most rewarding periods of my career was leading specialist SEN provision within a secondary school, where I adapted learning programmes for pupils working below age-related expectations. Seeing these students grow in confidence and achieve outcomes they previously thought were beyond their reach reinforced why I chose a career in education.

Outside of teaching, I am a passionate sportsman and enjoy both football and golf. Sport has taught me the importance of resilience, teamwork, discipline, and self-belief—qualities that I encourage in all of the young people I work with. I believe many of the lessons learned through sport can have a positive impact on both learning and personal development.
