What is Alternative Provision?

Alternative provision offers tailored education outside of mainstream settings for pupils who are unable to attend full-time school due to SEND, SEMH needs, medical conditions, school refusal, or other barriers. Whether delivered face-to-face or online, our provision is flexible, inclusive, and designed to meet the needs outlined in a young person’s EHCP or personal plan.

About

Our priority is to create personalised, high-quality learning experiences that meet each child’s academic and emotional needs. Our team includes qualified teachers, specialist tutors (including dyslexia and SEND specialists), and experienced teaching assistants who work closely with parents, carers, schools, and multi-agency professionals.

We understand that success looks different for every young person. That’s why our provision may include:

  • English and Maths tuition

  • Functional Skills and GCSE preparation

  • Life skills and independence work

  • Support for dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties

  • Practical, interest-led learning projects

  • Transition support and reintegration planning

Collaboration and Care

We believe education is most effective when it’s a collaborative effort. We work hand-in-hand with parents, schools, EPs, therapists, and local authorities to:

  • Align provision with EHCP outcomes

  • Share regular updates and progress reports

  • Conduct regular reviews and multi-agency meetings

  • Incorporate the student’s voice to shape their learning journey

Real Impact: A Case Study

In one example of our work, we supported a student with a complex EHCP, funded by Hampshire County Council. Our team — two teachers, a dyslexia specialist, and a teaching assistant — developed an interactive, cross-curricular programme tailored to his needs. The outcomes have been outstanding:

  • He launched his own sustainable catering business, selling at local markets

  • He developed teamwork and confidence through practical learning

  • He gained work experience at a local restaurant and is aiming for a career in catering

  • Inspired by science sessions, launched a weather balloon with a brownie on it into space, with CAA approval

  • His academic and emotional progress has been transformative

Delivery and Flexibility

Our provision can be delivered:

  • At home, where students feel safe and settled

  • Online, for accessibility and flexibility

  • In a setting agreed with families or schools

We are responsive to family preferences, staffing continuity, and individual learning rhythms. In case of staff absence, we provide qualified and experienced cover staff to ensure consistency
