Joining Our Team

Forest 1st Tutoring was founded by Nicola Collings, a passionate primary school teacher with over 30 years of experience in schools, university teaching, and private tutoring. Nicola envisioned the kind of tuition business she would want to work for—one built on respect, personalised learning, a passion for teaching, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence. These values are at the heart of everything we do, enabling our tutors to bring out the best in every student.

Our team includes teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, and mentors with diverse backgrounds and interests. Many balance their work with us alongside other professional and personal pursuits, and their family, enriching our community with a wide range of skills and perspectives.

When you join Forest 1st Tutoring, you become part of a valued and supportive team. Ongoing professional development is important to us, so all staff are expected to complete mandatory training throughout the year, including safeguarding training.

If you share our values and passion for education, we’d love to hear from you. Join us in making a real difference for our students!

How we work

Because we work closely with vulnerable students, Forest 1st Tutoring follows a robust recruitment process that aligns with the best practices in safeguarding. We encourage all applicants to review our Safeguarding Policy before applying.

Most of our tutors work on a freelance basis, though PAYE opportunities may arise depending on the role and funding. Rather than fixed weekly hours, we offer flexibility through a Casual Worker Contract, allowing you to fit tutoring around your other commitments.

Invoicing & Payment: Submit your invoice at the end of each month, and we aim to process payments within three working days.

Pay Rates: Hourly rates vary by assignment and available funding, but we are committed to fair and generous pay—because we believe that quality staff deserve to be well rewarded.
