Happy New Year!

A very warm welcome to everyone, and a very Happy New Year from all of us at Forest 1st Tutoring. As we step into 2026, we would like to thank our families for their continued trust and support. Over the last month, Forest 1st Tutoring has expanded significantly, welcoming many new teachers to our team. Many of these tutors can be seen on our website and bring with them a wide range of skills, expertise, and experience. This growth means we are now able to offer even more opportunities, flexibility, and specialist support to our current students, while continuing to uphold the high standards of care and teaching that Forest 1st Tutoring is known for.

At Forest 1st Tutoring, we believe that the very best learning happens when children feel supported, understood, and valued as individuals. We provide after-school lessons that are typically one hour long, delivered in small groups by highly experienced teachers who are passionate about learning and genuinely care about the children they teach. What makes our approach unique is the level of individual attention each child receives, even within a group setting.

Alongside the class teacher, we have a highly experienced teaching assistant in the room. This means children benefit from one-to-one support from both a teacher and a teaching assistant whenever they need it. Children work independently, collaboratively, and at their own pace, with learning experiences tailored specifically to them. Our teachers do not plan only for the group as a whole; they carefully plan for individuals within the group, adapting lessons to meet specific needs where required.

When children arrive, they are encouraged to share anything they may be finding tricky at school. If extra support is needed, lessons are adjusted to address this straight away. We firmly believe that timely, targeted support helps children move ahead in school, builds confidence, and fosters a genuine enthusiasm for learning.

Most of our sessions take place in a comfortable, home-based setting at Nicola’s house, creating a calm and nurturing environment where children can relax and thrive. For children who love animals, there is also a very friendly golden retriever called Saffie, who is always available for a hug.

We support children from age 6 through to 13 in our after-school classes, with a strong focus on English and maths. Nicola is a specialist dyslexia teacher, and this expertise underpins all of her teaching. The strategies used to support dyslexic learners are beneficial for all children, helping to strengthen confidence, independence, and academic progress. We both challenge children academically and support them to flourish.

In addition to our in-person provision, we also work with trusted colleagues across the country who provide online tuition for older students. These tutors support a range of GCSE subjects, including English, maths, history, and French/ German. We currently have some availability for 2026, as well as a waiting list for September. If you would like to discuss how Forest 1st Tutoring could support your child, please do get in touch.
