Hi, I'm Carol. I have 25 years of experience teaching across the primary age range as a class teacher, cover teacher, supply teacher and school leader. I particularly enjoy teaching Maths and have a passion for breaking down barriers to learning.
I love seeing pupils grow in confidence and self-belief; successfully progressing and succeeding at their own pace.
I had a pretty unconventional path into teaching, as I left school at 16 becoming a sailmaker and left home at 18 to further my career and become a professional sailor. I have sailed over 77,000 offshore and ocean mile crossing the Atlantic Ocean seven times and the Pacific Ocean from Panama to New Zealand. These adventures led to me gaining Commercial Yachtmaster qualifications and working on youth development and outdoor education projects. It was the sail-training students on my Square-rigged training ship in New Zealand that first suggested I should become a teacher. Then followed a Bachelor of Education degree in Mathematics.
I love seeing pupils grow in confidence and self-belief; successfully progressing and succeeding at their own pace and following their own interests whatever they may be.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors: walking, kayaking and camping and I am also a Sea Scout leader and volunteer fundraiser.
