Tutor

Hello, my name is Chris and I am a highly experienced primary specialist (BA Hons, QTS) with extensive expertise in delivering bespoke, EHCP-aligned tuition for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

My provision is carefully structured around each child’s EHCP outcomes, professional reports, and current levels of attainment, ensuring that every session is purposeful, measurable, and strategically targeted.

I have significant experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including sensory sensitivities, communication and interaction differences, executive functioning challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties. I am highly attuned to early signs of dysregulation and proactively adapt sessions to maintain engagement, focus, and emotional safety.

Each programme is individually designed, incorporating the child’s interests to increase motivation while systematically strengthening core skills in phonics, reading, and mathematics. My teaching combines precision assessment, structured intervention, and clear behavioural expectations, creating a calm and predictable learning environment where pupils can make sustained progress.

I enjoy being part of Forest 1st Tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to support children in a different format compared to the traditional school approach. Working 1:1 in a tailored package enables me to develop creative strategies to remove barriers to learning, increase engagement and unlock success.

My particular areas of specialism are phonics and mathematics, where I have successfully supported pupils with SEND to close significant learning gaps and achieve demonstrable, measurable outcomes.

Outside of tutoring, I love keeping active. I go to the gym regularly and enjoy long walks in the beautiful New Forest or along the beach in Southsea. I also attend aerial classes, which are challenging but really exciting!

Last year, I decided to try something completely new and started learning squash. I’m still very much a beginner, which means I understand what it feels like to try something new and not get everything right straight away — and that’s absolutely okay.

My tailored, holistic approach is designed to secure meaningful academic progress while building confidence, independence, and long-term success.
