Tutor

Hi, my name is Chris, and I’m proud to be part of the Forest 1st Tutoring team. I am a qualified Primary Teacher (QTS) with a strong background in supporting children with SEN. I specialise in phonics and mathematics, helping children grow in confidence, feel successful, and enjoy learning in a way that suits them as individuals.

My provision is carefully structured around each child’s EHCP outcomes, professional reports, and current levels of attainment, ensuring that every session is purposeful and strategically targeted. I have significant experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including sensory sensitivities, communication and interaction differences, executive functioning challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties. I take a nurturing, patient, and calm approach, creating a supportive environment where children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

I particularly enjoy the opportunity that 1:1 tutoring provides, allowing me to link children’s interests to learning, recognise gaps in understanding, and build securely on prior knowledge. I am passionate about creating engaging sessions where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and progressing at their own pace while building both academic skills and emotional confidence.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy going to the gym, walking in the New Forest and along Southsea beach, playing squash, travelling, cooking, and getting creative with arts and crafts. I love helping children discover that learning can feel positive, enjoyable, and achievable, and I look forward to supporting every child to feel proud of their progress.
