Hi, I'm Danielle and I've been teaching for over 10 years. I spent two years working in outdoor education before moving into secondary science, where I've now taught for the past eight years.
Along the way, I also worked for a financial education charity, helping young people develop valuable life skills alongside their academic learning.
Throughout my career, I've worked with students of all abilities and backgrounds, and one thing has always remained the same – I love helping young people discover that they are capable of more than they think. Whether it's preparing for exams, tackling topics they find difficult, or simply building confidence, I enjoy seeing those moments when everything starts to click.
I believe the best learning happens when children feel safe, understood and encouraged. My teaching style is calm, patient and positive, and I always aim to make lessons engaging and enjoyable. Every child learns differently, so I tailor each session to suit the individual, helping them progress at a pace that works for them while celebrating every success along the way.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is making learning feel real. Science is happening all around us, and I love finding ways to connect new ideas to everyday life so they become easier to understand and remember. Whether that's using practical examples, relating a concept to a student's own hobbies and interests, or encouraging them to think about the world around them in a new way, I want learning to feel meaningful rather than something that's simply memorised. When students can see why something matters to them, their confidence and enjoyment often grow alongside their understanding.
Outside of teaching, you'll usually find me outdoors. I love spending time in the forest with my own children, whether we're building dens, climbing trees or simply enjoying a walk together. Sharing knowledge, exploring new places and encouraging curiosity are things I'm passionate about, both in my personal life and in my teaching. When I'm not outside, I enjoy playing badminton and, more recently, learning to roller skate – although I'm definitely still a work in progress!
