Hi. My name is Ellen. I have 36 years experience in teaching and leading in primary schools and have some middle school experience too.
As a life-long learner myself, I love to find the "light-bulb" moment when children discover things for themselves and see themselves as learners. As a primary school headteacher, I strongly believed that students have a right to feel safe, nurtured and happy in school, and a positive parent-teacher relationship is key.
Being part of the caring Forest First Tutoring team means I can continue to support pupils build confidence and develop a love of learning.
I love reading and arts and crafts and singing in a choir. I often use stories, artefacts or music to find a way into a topic. I also enjoy walking - until recently with my beautiful weimaraner, Frankie. I'm doing my first charity walk in October! I'm a governor at a very happy local infant school where children's well-being is paramount. Most importantly, I am a grandma to three gorgeous girls and I love cooking, creating , building and playing with them.
I am patient and calm. I plan lessons to match individual needs, finding whatever learning style suits; building self-belief through a growth mindset and supporting progress. Nobody knows all of the answers but we can find out together!
I am committed to helping pupils grow and thrive and encourage them to become curious about the world.
The team at Forest First Tutoring are passionate about helping young people succeed and I am proud to be part of the team.
