Hazel

Hi. I'm Hazel and I am delighted to be an Alternative Provision Tutor with Forest 1st Tutoring. I have been a teacher in Years 1-6 inclusive and more recently an Assistant Head at a primary school. I completed my degree through the Open University and obtained my PGCE from Chichester University. I have also completed my NPOSL and an Operational Management Apprenticeship. Previously, I was a Hearing Therapist with Audiology and enjoy applying my expertise from this area when teaching.

I am particularty experienced in the teaching of Maths and Phonics, having led these areas in the past. My work in leading assessment has empowered me to break learning down into the smallest measurable steps to celebrate progress in all areas of learning and personal development. I am passionate about celebrating individual progress in ways that are not limited to academic attainment.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, grown-up children and tiny dog. I love to travel and also enjoy various exercise classes. I am a black belt martial artist, embracing the role of Assistant Instructor!
