Hello! I am a passionate and experienced English teacher. I was drawn to work with the lovely team at Forest 1st Tutoring as I fundamentally believe all young people deserve the right to an education. Through my work as a pastoral leader, I have become increasingly aware that how education is delivered must adapt and be inclusive for all. It is a privilege to be able to work 1:1 with young people and enable them to continue their English education.
I currently work as an English and Media teacher. I am also an Assistant Year Leader with a specific focus on transition. I am passionate about this aspect of my work as smooth transitions are so important for our young people as they start their journey at Secondary School. In addition to the above, I support writing in our primary setting where I work with individuals and small groups to enable pupils to become skilful editors of their own writing. I am a creative and enthusiastic practitioner with young people at the heart of all I do. I also believe in high standards and clear boundaries to enable young people to thrive; my classrooms or sessions are predictable in format and emotionally safe but with an expectation that we all work hard. This enables young people to have a sense of achievement and nurtures self-worth.
Finally, I have 2 lovely and lively daughters and live with them, my husband and our two guinea pigs (Midnight and Charlotte). I love the theatre and reading - I am part of an active book group. I also volunteer as a mentor for a care leaver through the charity, Goal 17.
