Hello, I'm Jo. I have worked in education, supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs from early years through to adulthood. 

Throughout my career I have worked as a trauma-informed class teacher, advisory teacher, self-employed, behaviour consultant, Local Authority SEND officer, integrated approach teacher, and most recently as a Specialist Teacher and SENCo. 

These varied roles have given me extensive experience of working across all key stages with young people up to the age of 25, as well as collaborating closely with families, settings and multi-agency teams. I am passionate about ensuring that every child and young person is heard, understood, valued and given the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the challenges they may face.

I am calm, caring and practical.  I enjoy finding creative and fun ways to engage young people, bringing learning to life through active, meaningful and memorable experiences that build confidence, resilience and success.

Working within supportive teams has always been very important to me. I believe that the best outcomes are achieved when professionals and families work collaboratively, sharing expertise and placing the needs of the young person at the centre of everything they do.

My professional philosophy has always been guided by the belief that if a young person cannot learn the way we teach, then we should teach the way they learn. This principle continues to drive my passion for SEND, my commitment to inclusion, and my determination to help make a real difference to the lives of young people and their families.
