Karen

Hi everyone, my name is Karen Blencowe and I’m one of the tutors at Forest 1st Tutoring. I have been teaching for 21 years and joined the tutoring team a year ago. I still teach in a primary school and love the different sides to my job.

No day is the same, and I love the excitement of learning, the challenges (in and out of the classroom), and those ‘lightbulb moments’ when a child learns something new.

My favourite thing about my job is building relationships with the children I teach and being creative in finding ways to learn that suit each individual. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy playing netball, reading, and spending time with my family outdoors—whatever the weather! We especially love the beach and the countryside. My two children keep me busy with their sports and hobbies a lot of the time too!
