Bonjour!/ Guten Tag! / Hello! My name is Karen and I have over 20 years of classroom teaching experience in the British curriculum in state and independent schools, including modern languages department anagement. I have taught in schools in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.
I provide bespoke interactive online lessons in German and French to primary and secondary students and have experience teaching students with SEND.
I qualified as a teacher of German and French from the University of Cambridge in 1998 and hold a BA degree in German with Hispanic Studies from the University of Nottingham (1996), and a PGCert in Psychology from the University of Liverpool (2019). I offer a proven track record for improving student attainment by inspiring enjoyment of languages through well prepared, individually tailored, engaging lessons, and create a safe space for optimal achievement and wellbeing. I model high standards and lifelong learning.
Having two daughters who were educated in multiple countries, I have personal experience of the impact of change, the pressures faced with examinations, and further education choices, and the mental health challenges facing young people today.
When I’m not tutoring, I love playing netball, weight training and running. I travel with family and friends exploring different countries, cultures, speaking languages and learning new skills. I also enjoy trips to the theatre and listening to all kinds of music.
I look forward to meeting you and being a valuable and fun part of your learning journey.
