Katy

Hello, my name is Katy and I am a tutor at Forest 1st Tutoring. After beginning my working life in television, I have been teaching for over 20 years, with a gap in the middle to bring up my two boys. I began as an English teacher in secondary but for the past 10 years have worked in primary, mainly in upper Key Stage 2.

Every child has a different approach to learning, and I pride myself on being able to help the children I work with to grow in confidence. It is important to me to build relationships with the children and find how they learn best, tailoring learning to their individual needs.

As an English specialist, I have a passion for the written word and especially enjoy helping children improve their reading as it is the foundation to learning; unlocking knowledge beyond English and equipping children for life beyond school.

When I'm not working, you'll find me with my dogs or horse, ferrying my children to various sporting pursuits, or with my head buried in a good book!
