Kelly

Tutor

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I began my career as a secondary school teacher in 2004. I have also worked in a middle school setting.

In 2015, I made the decision to home educate my four children. Although I have always loved teaching in schools, home education opened my eyes to the incredible benefits of personalised learning. I taught two of my children to read and all four have followed individual learning journeys. My youngest two children are autistic and have ADHD, giving me first-hand experience of supporting neurodivergent learners. This has given me a deep understanding of the importance of adapting education to meet each child's needs.

I am particularly passionate about making learning accessible for children with autism, ADHD, PDA, anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). I have also completed PACE training and EBSA training, which have further strengthened my ability to help children feel safe, understood and confident.

For the last 11 years, I have been supporting the home education community. I organise events and offer free teaching to home-educated students.

Throughout my career I have also taught Mathematics, English, Business, Humanities, RE, Art and several other subjects, giving me a broad and adaptable teaching background. More recently, I have been working within alternative provision, supporting young people who thrive with a more personalised approach to learning. I pride myself on being able to adapt my teaching style to suit each learner. Whether a child needs a highly structured approach or a more flexible, interest-led style of learning, I work alongside them and their family to find what helps them succeed.

Outside of tutoring, I am a Brownie Leader and an Assistant Scout Leader.

After 22 years in education, I remain as passionate about teaching as ever. I believe the best learning happens when children feel valued. My aim is to remove barriers, build confidence and help every student discover that they are capable of success. I am adaptable, patient and committed to helping every learner reach their potential in a way that works for them.
