Tutor

Hi, I’m Lorna — a primary school teacher with several years of experience supporting young learners in both mainstream education and a specialist SEN preschool.

These roles have given me a deep understanding of how children learn differently and how powerful personalised, confidence‑building support can be.

I also hold a Master’s in Psychology, which has strengthened my knowledge of child development and the emotional side of learning.

I love working with Forest 1st Tutoring because it allows me to support pupils individually, build trusting relationships, and tailor learning to each child’s unique strengths.

One of the most meaningful experiences in my teaching career was supporting a Year 1 child who found school overwhelming. By breaking tasks into small, achievable steps and offering gentle 1:1 support, I watched them grow from anxious and reluctant to confident and proud of their progress. Moments like that are why I tutor.

Alongside teaching, I’m completing a self‑directed Master’s through distance learning and hope to pursue a clinical psychology doctorate focused on supporting children with additional needs. I’m organised, self‑motivated, and committed to helping every child feel understood and capable.

Outside of work, I’m a mum who loves running, being outdoors, and spending time with my kids. Families can expect a tutor who is warm, patient, reliable, and genuinely invested in helping their child grow in confidence and enjoy learning.
