Hi, my name is Lucy, and I am glad to be part of the Forest 1st Tutoring team. I love working with an organisation that truly puts the child at the heart of everything they do. I have been teaching and tutoring for over ten years now, and I specialise in supporting students through French and Spanish from Key Stage 3 right up to GCSE and A-Level. I also really enjoy helping learners master the practical communication skills needed for Functional Skills English at Levels 1 and 2.
For me, tutoring is just as much about building a child’s confidence and protecting their wellbeing as it is about getting through the curriculum. School and exam anxiety can feel incredibly heavy, so I make sure my sessions are completely patient and stress-free. We break down tricky grammar or communication barriers into small, manageable steps, moving at whatever pace feels right for your child. I always tell my students that mistakes are a completely natural—and welcome—part of how we learn.
As a Qualified Teacher (QTS) and a former Subject Leader for A-Level Spanish and prior a secondary MFL teacher, I bring a lot of practical classroom experience to our lessons. I hold a First-Class BA (Hons) with Distinctions in both French and Spanish, followed by an MA. Over the years, I have spent a lot of time creating specialised, tailored resources that gently scaffold learning for SEND students, whilst also finding ways to challenge and stretch every student.
When I am not teaching, I love getting outdoors, reading, and exploring different cultures. Sharing these interests always helps me build a lovely, genuine rapport with my pupils. When your family works with me, you can expect a warm, encouraging tutor who is fully committed to making your child feel safe, understood, and proud of their progress.
