Nathan

11+ Specialist Teacher

Hi, my name is Nathan, and I’m delighted to be part of the Forest 1st Tutoring team. I’m a Cambridge trained educator with over 20 years of experience supporting children and young people aged 5–18, both in schools and through one-to-one tuition. I have extensive experience working in highly academically selective London schools, and I love helping pupils build the confidence and skills to thrive in these environments.

I hold a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and I specialise in supporting pupils through entrance and scholarship exams from 5+ to 11+, as well as GCSE Maths. I deliver tuition online, and I particularly enjoy helping pupils prepare for scholarship and entrance-style mock interviews or, for older students, Oxbridge PPE mock interviews and critical thinking exercises.

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing pupils gain confidence in their own abilities. Every child learns differently, so I adapt my teaching to match their pace, strengths, and goals. I focus on helping pupils make measurable progress in 5+ and 11+ exams, while also supporting older students to articulate ideas clearly and think critically. I combine this academic focus with care, being a trained Mental Health First Aider, ensuring pupils’ wellbeing is nurtured alongside their learning. I work closely with families to keep them informed and ensure learning continues effectively beyond our sessions, and I offer flexible scheduling to fit around school and family commitments.

Alongside more than sixteen years of private tutoring, I have held senior roles in schools, including Head of Subject and Head of House. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading and exploring ideas in philosophy and theology, and I’ll soon be returning to Oxford to continue my academic study. I’m passionate about helping pupils grow in confidence, feel supported, and take pride in their progress.
