Tutor

Hi, my name is Nicky, and I am excited to be part of the Forest 1st Tutoring team. I have over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience, including A-level social sciences, Functional Skills, and supporting young people with a range of additional needs.

Forest 1st appealed to me because of its commitment to personalised learning and helping pupils build confidence and make meaningful progress.
Throughout my career, I have taught in sixth form colleges and supported learners with SEND, social, emotional and mental health needs, and communication difficulties.

I have also worked with young people in alternative provision and social care settings. Working with learners from a wide range of backgrounds has shown me how important it is to provide the right support and encouragement for each young person to grow in confidence, develop their skills, and achieve their potential. I adapt my teaching to each individual, creating clear and structured lessons that help them progress at a pace that works for them.

I hold a PGCE and QTLS status and have extensive experience teaching A-level social sciences across a range of specifications. I have also delivered Functional Skills to learners who were not engaged in mainstream education. These experiences have helped me develop a patient, flexible and person-centred approach that places each learner's needs at the heart of my practice.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy films, music, keeping up with current affairs, and spending time outdoors. I also enjoy baking and cooking. Families working with me can expect a warm, encouraging and professional tutor who is committed to helping their child feel valued, supported and proud of their progress.
