Nicola Collings

Director of Studies, DSL

Hi, I'm Nicola, and I have been passionate about teaching for over 30 years. I qualified as a teacher from Oxford University in 1995 and, since then, have taught children from Year R to Year 13. I have been a deputy headteacher, qualified as a headteacher (gaining the NPQH in 2004), and have also taught trainee teachers at university. I have Level 3 training in Safeguarding for children and recent PREVENT training. I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Forest 1st Tutoring and have a level 3 qualification in safeguarding.

I have two children and live in Landford, in the New Forest, with my partner Scott and our dog, Saffie. I have been tutoring alongside teaching in schools for over 14 years and specialise in 11+ support, teaching English and Maths, and SATs preparation.

In April 2023, I qualified as a specialist dyslexia teacher with the British Dyslexia Association. I now use this qualification to support pupils aged 11–18 both in and out of school. I currently work full time as a tutor and lead a team of teachers and teaching assistants to deliver high-quality learning experiences for children.

We tutor children at my home in Nomansland, in the local reading room, in children's homes, and online. We ensure that learning is tailored to the individual needs of each child, delivering a bespoke service that helps them to thrive.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, making homemade ice cream, doing pilates, playing badminton and walking in the forest.

My team and I love teaching and supporting every child to reach their full potential. Please contact me to discuss how we can help your child grow in confidence and succeed academically.
