Hi, I’m Nicola, and I have been passionate about teaching and supporting young people for over 30 years. I am delighted to now lead Forest First Tutoring, alongside an incredible team of staff who make a real difference to young people every day — helping them to grow in confidence, believe in themselves and flourish in their learning.
I qualified as a teacher from Oxford University in 1995 and, since then, have taught children from Year R to Year 13. I have also been tutoring alongside teaching in schools for over 25 years. I have been a deputy headteacher, gained my NPQH in 2004, and have also taught trainee teachers at university. I have Level 3 safeguarding training and recent Prevent training, and I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Forest First Tutoring.
In April 2023, I qualified as a specialist dyslexia teacher with the British Dyslexia Association. I now use this qualification to support staff in meeting children’s individual learning needs.
I feel incredibly privileged to lead a community of dedicated and highly experienced educators who share a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people. Together, we support a large and growing number of children, helping them to become more confident learners, develop greater self-belief and achieve their individual potential.
I work closely with schools, families and local authorities to ensure that every child receives the right support at the right time.
I have two children and live in Landford, in the New Forest, with my partner Scott and our dog, Saffie.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and making homemade ice cream, as well as Pilates, going to the gym and walking in the beautiful New Forest.
