Wallis

Tutor

Hi, my name is Wallis and I am delighted to be part of the Forest 1st Tutoring team! With over a decade of teaching and private tutoring experience across UK schools, international settings, and alternative provisions, I specialise in English from Key Stage 2 up to GCSE level.

I joined Forest 1st Tutoring because I share a strong commitment to supporting children through tailored, 1:1 guidance - creating a warm, structured environment where learners can rediscover their academic confidence and feel genuinely supported.

I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), an LLB Law degree, and currently serve as an active GCSE English Examination Assessor for major exam boards like AQA and Pearson Edexcel. This dual background in education and legal analysis allows me to give students precise, insider guidance on exam techniques, mark schemes, and structured writing, while ensuring lessons remain engaging and accessible.

My teaching approach revolves around academic excellence, empathy and adaptability. Having worked extensively with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) including ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, speech and language needs, and anxiety, I know how important it is to break complex tasks down into manageable steps. I use a variety of approaches and strategies to help pupils flourish and overcome barriers at their own pace.

My journey in education has taken me from teaching English internationally in Thailand to leading academic departments and mentoring students in UK secondary schools and alternative provisions. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring the Berkshire countryside, reading, and keeping up with the latest educational strategies. I look forward to working alongside your family to help your child grow in confidence, master new skills, and make meaningful, celebrated progress!
