We are delighted to share some very exciting news — our first ever children’s books are heading to Waterstones in Romsey! On Saturday 18th October at 2pm, Waterstones Romsey will host the official launch of two brand new children’s books written by young authors from our Forest 1st Tutoring community: The Guinea Pig Saga and Fur & Feathers Fight for the World. This event promises to be a celebration of what young people can achieve — and you’re all invited!
Meet the Authors
Penelope, Orla, Erin, Rowan, Danny and Cara who created these books will be at Waterstones and will be excited to share their stories with you for the very first time. They’ll be giving a short reading from each book and signing copies of their first editions - a perfect gift for children, families and fans of inspiring young writers.
Meet the Illustrator
Both books have been beautifully brought to life by the talented illustrator Emma Watremetz, whose vibrant and expressive artworks captures the energy and charm of each chapter. Emma will be joining us at the launch, where readers can meet her and see how she helped turn the children’s words into the stunning visuals that fill the pages.
A Special Moment
To make this day even more memorable, the book launch will be opened by Orla's dad, Dan Snow! It’s set to be a truly special community event that celebrates imagination, determination, and the joy of storytelling.
Our two children's books, which are available to pre-order now are:
Fur & Feathers Fight for the World
In this hilarious and heart warming tale, young authors Penelope Barker and Orla Snow unleash a magical spell that gives animals the power to speak. What follows? Chaos, of course — talking ducks, power-hungry chipmunks, and a daring quest to save the planet! It’s a story full of laughter, teamwork, and the true power of friendship (and cheese!). Perfect for children aged 7 to 11 who love animals and adventure.

The Guinea Pig Saga
This wonderful book was written by Erin Reynolds, Cara Dear, Rowan Jewell and Danny Herod, Year 8 children from Hounsdown and Mountbatten Schools, and has been two years in the making. Join fearless Miriam and her best friend Moses as they dive into a year of daring adventures — from summers abroad to facing school bullies (and one terrifying dinner lady!). This lively story is packed with mischief, courage, and friendship.
A Celebration of Creativity
At Forest 1st Tutoring, we believe every child has a story to tell. These two books show what’s possible when creativity, confidence, and collaboration come together. From the first ideas to finished, published works — these young writers have shown dedication, humour, and heart every step of the way. We couldn’t be more proud of them and can’t wait for everyone to see the results of their hard work.
